Man Utd: Ten Hag claps back at Mourinho’s support claims

Manchester United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, swiftly countered Jose Mourinho’s assertions about managerial support levels at the club.

Mourinho had suggested that Ten Hag enjoys superior backing in the transfer market compared to his own tenure.

In response, Ten Hag pointed out that Mourinho was the sole post-Sir Alex Ferguson era manager to secure desired player signings.

He emphasized the importance of constructing a competitive squad in the face of a fiercely contested Premier League, where multiple teams vie for the title.

The Dutchman told ESPN Brasil: “Apart from Mourinho, the (other) managers didn’t get the players they wanted, and that is what you need.

“I am confident we will achieve our goals, but it is a tough competition. It is not a two-horse race anymore.

“There are seven, eight [teams in the Premier League] who all go for the title, who all have very good squads. So if you want to go to the title, you have to construct that squad.”
