He has been disrespected – Rio Ferdinand questions lack of respect towards ‘world-class’ African star

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has expressed bewilderment over the criticism aimed at Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah during the current campaign.

Ferdinand came to Salah’s defense amidst recent scrutiny surrounding the Egyptian’s performances.

Before Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Salah had only managed to score twice in eight Premier League matches, with both goals coming from penalty kicks.

Additionally, an altercation with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp occurred during their 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

Speaking on Vibe with Five, Ferdinand emphasized Salah’s consistent excellence over the years, asserting that the Egyptian has unquestionably been world-class during his tenure with Liverpool.

He highlighted Salah’s pivotal role in past successes, including the 2018 Champions League final where his injury significantly impacted Liverpool’s performance.

Despite Salah’s remarkable statistics, Ferdinand expressed confusion and dismay at the level of disrespect directed towards him, urging observers to recognize his undeniable contributions to Liverpool’s success.

Ferdinand said on Vibe with Five, “Can I just say something about Mo Salah? I think he’s been disrespected, I’ve seen a lot of comments about him, I’ve seen people talking about him, caning him.

“But I don’t think there’s a debate that Mo Salah’s been world-class for a number of years.

“Maybe this season he’s tailed off, but I think in his pomp years at Liverpool, absolutely world-class.

“Real Madrid only won that Champions League final because he came off injured. Up until he came off injured, Liverpool were the team on the front foot. As soon as he came off the pitch, everything changed.
