EPL: ‘They didn’t bring it on pitch’ – Ten Hag lambasts five Manchester United players

Manchester United’s hopes for a resurgence were dashed as they endured a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday, prompting manager Erik ten Hag to express his frustration with the team’s performance, particularly five of his players.

The Red Devils, eager to climb back into European contention in the Premier League standings, faltered at Selhurst Park.

The downfall began with a critical defensive lapse in the 12th minute when a throw-in near the halfway line sparked Crystal Palace’s first goal.

Michael Olise capitalized on the opportunity, effortlessly maneuvering past Christian Eriksen and evading a feeble challenge from Casemiro before finding the net past goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Ten Hag minced no words in his post-match assessment, chastising five of his players for their failure to adhere to defensive instructions and adapt to changing game scenarios.

“The throw-in where you concede the first goal, that shouldn’t happen and that is as a team because we don’t follow their rules. We don’t adapt to the different situations to organise, to keep control in those situations.
“Five players over the ball and they have a throw-in, it is not possible,” Ten Hag said (via Sky Sports)

“There are five players there and that is a goal that shouldn’t happen because we really give clear instructions of how we should defend this. They didn’t bring it on the pitch and we got hammered.”
