UCL: Luis Enrique bemoans unfairness of football as PSG bows out of Champions League

Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes for Champions League glory were dashed on Tuesday night as they suffered a heartbreaking exit at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, leaving manager Luis Enrique to lament the capricious nature of the beautiful game.

In a tense encounter at the Parc des Princes, Mats Hummels’ solitary goal sealed Dortmund’s victory with a 1-0 scoreline, securing a 2-0 aggregate win in the semi-final tie.

Dortmund now advances to face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final showdown at Wembley.

Reflecting on the disappointing outcome, Enrique expressed his frustration at the perceived injustice of football, emphasizing PSG’s dominance in terms of chances created.

Despite launching an impressive 31 shots, including four unfortunate strikes against the woodwork, PSG failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

“When the result is that, yes it’s difficult of course,” remarked Enrique in an interview with TNT Sports.

“A tight match, but to be honest I think we have to win the match. We created 31 shots, four [times hitting the woodwork] – football is so unfair sometimes.”
