Former Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has spoken out about midfielder Jude Bellingham’s challenges within Carlo Ancelotti’s system.
While acknowledging the midfielder’s struggles with the demands placed upon him, Van Nistelrooy commended Bellingham for exceeding expectations set by both fans and the club.
Van Nistelrooy, who enjoyed success during his time at Real Madrid, highlighted Bellingham’s impressive goal-scoring record and versatility on the field.
Expressing admiration for Bellingham’s multifaceted abilities, Van Nistelrooy emphasized the player’s contributions beyond just scoring goals, citing his vision, defensive efforts, and adaptability in various roles.
Van Nistelrooy said (via AS): “That Jude has so many goals is an extra, a bonus. He is a splendid all-rounder who arrives phenomenally on the second line; he runs, he defends, he has a vision of the game, and he makes quick transitions. We cannot demand that he be a scorer and, nevertheless, he is one.”
He added: “His season is spectacular and must be valued in the right way for him. It doesn’t matter that Ancelotti has changed his role; he performs wherever he is put, because he is an exceptional player.”
