- Real Madrid will play Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1 at Wembley. This was possible after the LaLiga champions defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 in the Champions League semi-final second leg tie on Wednesday night.
- The former head of the Spanish football federation, Luis Rubiales, will stand trial for sexual assault over his unsolicited kissing of Women’s World Cup player Jenni Hermoso. A Spanish High Court judge said on Wednesday Mr Rubiales was also facing one charge of coercion.
- Oxford made it through to the Sky Bet League One play-off final after a 2-1 aggregate win over Peterborough. Leading 1-0 heading into the second leg, Oxford secured a 1-1 draw at the Weston Homes Stadium to reach Wembley.
- Naomi Osaka beat France’s Clara Burel in straight sets in the Italian Open first round on her first appearance at the tournament since 2021. Former world number one Osaka won 7-6 (7-2) 6-1 against Burel, who is ranked 45th in the world.
- Bayer Leverkusen will face AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League semi-final second leg clash on Thursday night, while Atalanta will tackle Marseille. Leverkusen won 2-0 against Roma in the first leg last week in Italy, while Marseille played 1-1 with Atalanta.
