  1. Bayer Leverkusen scored a sensational last-minute equaliser to book their place in the Europa League final and set a new record of 49 matches unbeaten in all competitions. Leverkusen were previously tied with Benfica on 48 games unbeaten in all competitions, but now boast the best record outright since the advent of European competition, according to UEFA.
  2. Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka all made it through comfortably to the last 32 of the Italian open in Rome. Poland’s world number one Swiatek dominated American Bernarda Pera on the way to a 6-0 6-2 win in one hour 17 minutes, Gauff was a 6-3 6-3 winner against Poland’s Magdalena Frech in one hour 28 minutes and Japan’s Osaka completed a 6-3 6-2 win against world number 20 Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine.
  3. Aston Villa fell short of reaching their first European final in 42 years as Ayoub El Kaabi’s double secured Olympiakos a 2-0 victory in their Conference League last-four second leg. El Kaabi scored a hat-trick to help Olympiakos win the first leg 4-2 last week and he ended the tie with a remarkable five goals as the Greek side tied up a 6-2 aggregate victory.
  4. Luke Humphries made it a dream night by edging Michael van Gerwen to win Night 15 of this year’s Premier League Darts in Leeds as Luke Littler was eliminated in the semi-finals. Leeds United fan Humphries delighted the home crowd as he battled to victory over Van Gerwen 6-5 to win on his big night.
  5. Rafael Nadal battled past Belgian underdog Zizou Bergs to reach the second round of the Italian Open. The Spaniard continued his preparation for the French Open later this month with a hard-fought victory in Rome, taking the decider to secure a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory having fallen behind to an impressive Bergs.
