Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has voiced his regret over not securing the signing of Arsenal’s standout midfielder, Declan Rice.
Since his transfer from West Ham last summer, Rice has emerged as a cornerstone player under Mikel Arteta’s management, featuring in all 36 Premier League matches for the Gunners.
With Rice’s exceptional performance, he has earned a nomination for the Premier League Player of the Year award, underscoring his significance to Arsenal.
Reflecting on the missed opportunity, Ten Hag expressed his admiration for Rice, acknowledging his qualities and suggesting that he would have seamlessly integrated into the Manchester United squad, had the chance arisen.
When asked about Rice as a player and whether he would have liked him in his United squad, Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Red Devils’ Premier League tie with Arsenal on Sunday: “He’s a very good player.
“He would absolutely have fitted here.”
