Sporting CP have firmly stated that manager Ruben Amorim will not be leaving the club this summer, despite Chelsea’s search for a new manager following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.
Pochettino exited Stamford Bridge by mutual consent, leaving Chelsea’s hierarchy eyeing Amorim, who led Sporting to a Primeira Liga title and aims for a domestic double with the Taca de Portugal final against Porto.
Amorim, 39, has also been in discussions with West Ham, which is seeking a replacement for David Moyes.
However, during Sporting’s title celebrations in Lisbon, club president Frederico Varandas asserted Amorim’s commitment to the club.
“Today, we have one of the best coaches in the world,” Varandas declared.
“We had him four years ago, we have him today, and we will have him next year. His stay is not driven by financial reasons or lack of interest from other clubs. Sporting provides him with protection, stability, the right conditions for success, and above all, happiness.”
