2. Iga Swiatek continued her dominance over Coco Gauff to reach the French Open final and move closer to a third straight title at Roland Garros. World number one Swiatek will face Italian 12th seed Jasmine Paolini in Saturday’s final.
3. The USA caused a huge, historic shock in the T20 World Cup with a thrilling Super Over win over Pakistan in Texas. The game went to the extra over after both sides made 159 in their 20 overs at Grand Prairie Stadium, with tournament co-hosts and debutants USA scoring 14 in the final over to tie Pakistan’s total.
4. Scotland continued their impressive start to the T20 World Cup with a five-wicket victory over Namibia in Barbados. With 40 needed from the last four overs in pursuit of 156, Michael Leask struck the experienced David Wiese for two sixes in the 17th over to swing the game in Scotland’s favour with 19 runs coming from six balls.
5. The pitches used in the T20 World Cup matches played in New York have not been up to standard and ground staff are working on remedying them for the rest of the tournament, the International Cricket Council said on Thursday.
