Super Eagles coach, Finidi George, has given reason why Victor Boniface didn’t play in Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifier 1-1 draw with South Africa on Friday.
Boniface was widely expected to start the match as Victor Osimhen is currently injured.
But Finidi left the Bayer Leverkusen attacker on the bench for the entire duration of the game.
When asked by reporters about the decision, he replied after the game: “Allow us to do our jobs.
“We wanted to introduce Boniface and Moffi, but Semi had a knock and we had to take him off and introduce Moffi and Onyedika.
“The fans and media would shout for different players, if they don’t perform well, the shout will be, take him off. Allow us to do our jobs.”
The Super Eagles will take on Benin Republic on Monday in their next game.
