Arsenal have informed Napoli they will not meet Victor Osimhen’s £110.8million release clause.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, wants to add a striker to his squad after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City last season.
One of the names on his list is believed to be RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and is available due to his £55.2million release clause.
However, Sky Sports Italy report that although Arsenal rate Osimhen highly, they are unwilling to do a deal with Napoli because of the high costs involved.
Napoli are willing to sell Osimhen this summer transfer window, but the club’s president, Aurelio de Laurentiis, is holding out for a team that will pay the £110.8million clause.
The Serie A club has received no concrete proposals so far for the Nigeria international.
However, while Saudi Pro League clubs could afford such a high fee, Osimhen is keen on remaining in Europe to continue his carreer.
Osimhen has been linked with Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.
