Transfer: Silva advises Portugal midfielder to snub Man Utd for EPL rivals

Portugal star, Bernardo Silva has urged his international teammate Joao Neves to snub Manchester United and instead join him at Manchester City this summer transfer window.

Man United have identified Neves as a key summer transfer target.

It is said that the Premier League giants have already failed with a £51mllion bid for the Benfica star.

Man United are keen to sign a replacement for Casemiro following the Brazilian’s difficult second season at Old Trafford.

Neves has a release clause of £105m but Benfica will reportedly consider offers of around £85m for the 22-year-old who is set to feature for Portugal at Euro 2024.

Asked about speculation linking Neves with a move to United, Silva said as quoted by Metro UK: “I told him to go to Manchester City.

“It’s not easy. He’s a player who, due to the success he had last season, has many clubs that want him.

“I would like to see him by my side. But I want the best for him.”
