Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has expressed his regret for not joining Manchester United, saying that he could have won more Premier League titles at the Red Devils.
Mikel Obi, who came close to joining United in 2006, had a meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson and the Football Association but later opted to join Chelsea.
In his recent interview with beIN SPORTS, the former Super Eagles captain revealed that he should have won more Premier League titles if he had joined United, but he had an amazing 11 years at Chelsea, where he won four FA Cup titles and created wonderful memories with the club, players, and fans.
“I should have won more Premier League titles (if I moved to Man United), but I have four FA Cup titles,” Mikel Obi said.
“I’d have been the first Nigerian player to play for United but I had an amazing 11 years at Chelsea. Fantastic time. It became my home.
“The players, the friends, people at the club, they all became family. We won a lot, had an amazing time. More highs than lows. A brilliant time that I will never ever forget.”
