Ballon d’Or 2024: ‘Injury didn’t stop him’ – Dani Carvajal picks player that should win award

Real Madrid defender, Dani Carvajal has picked his teammate Vinicius Junior as the player that should win the Ballon d’Or award this year.

According to the Spain international, the Brazilian deserves the top individual prize after his performances for Madrid this season despite injury.

Vinicius made 39 appearances across competitions for the Los Blancos in the 2023-24 campaign.

The winger scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Vinicius helped Madrid won both the LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League.

Asked to name his favourite for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, Carvajal told MARCA (via @MadridXtra):

“Ballon d’Or? The one I see with the most options is Vinicius. He was injured for three month but this didn’t stop him from scoring many goals and be decisive in the Champions League and La Liga.

“He and Bellingham may be the ones who can win.”
