Former Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra, has hits out at the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, officials in Netherlands’ 0-0 draw with France at the ongoing Euro 2024 in Germany.
Evra believes that the Dutch side was denied a clear goal against France during the encounter.
According to him, the VAR officials, made a mistake when they canceled Xavi Simons’s goal in the second half for offside.
The former France international described VAR’s decision as “shocking.”
“It’s a shocking decision, that should be a goal. Someone should tell me about this rule,” Evra spoke on Sony Sports Network’s Football Extra.
“The Dutch player was not blocking Maignan’s view. Maybe the person sitting in the VAR room tonight was Stevie Wonder.
“It’s a clear goal. As a Frenchman, I should be finding an excuse, but I can’t; it’s a goal.”
