Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Sports Newspapers:

  2. Andy Murray will make a final decision on Tuesday as to whether he is fit enough to play in the Wimbledon singles later that day. The 37-year-old Briton, who had a cyst on his back removed nine days ago, is scheduled to play Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic at about 18:30 BST.
  3. Biniam Girmay made history as the first black African to win a Tour de France stage as Mark Cavendish was held up by a late crash on the run into Turin. In a reduced sprint finish, Eritrea’s Girmay powered to victory, with Colombia’s Fernando Gaviria and Belgium’s Arnaud de Lie in second and third.

4 . Carlos Alcaraz opened his Wimbledon title defence with a hard-fought victory over Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal. The Spaniard won 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 6-2 to begin proceedings on Centre Court.

  1. UEFA is investigating England midfielder Jude Bellingham for a gesture he made following his late equaliser against Slovakia in Sunday’s Euro 2024 last-16 tie. European football’s governing body said it is looking into a “potential violation” of “the basic rules of decent conduct” by Bellingham.
