Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro has explained her brother’s tears following his penalty miss against Slovenia in the Euro 2024 Round of 16 clash on Monday.
Ronaldo was distraught after he missed an extra-time first half penalty against Slovenia.
The Al Nassr forward had the chance to put Portugal in front, but goalkeeper Jan Oblak denied him from the spot.
After the match, Elma Aveiro, posted on Instagram, explaining the 39-year-old’s tears.
She wrote: “This scene was the moment he saw our lifelong mother on the giant screen.
“Do you know what it means? They don’t know… No one will ever know…Not everything is football, fame and money… “
Portugal eventually won the game 3-0 on penalties shootout, thanks to Diogo Costa, who saved three penalties.
