Former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has said Luke Shaw must start England’s Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands if he is fit.
Lampard said Shaw gives balance to the England team.
Gareth Southgate’s side defeated Switzerland on penalties to qualify for the semifinals.
Despite going through, the Three Lions flattered to deceive for much of the match.
They trailed with 15 minutes left after Breel Embolo’s late goal, before Bukayo Saka’s wonder strike drew the game level.
Shaw, who has been recovering from a long-term hamstring problem, was brought on in the second half and provided England with more balance and control on the left-hand side.
“I think if he is fit he starts,” Lampard said of Shaw on the BBC.
“He gives England that balance. He looked pretty good when he came on. If he’s fit I would play him.”
