Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has chosen Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior as the favourite player to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Ferdinand said that Vinicius is the frontrunner to win the prestigious award.
Vinicius played 39 games across competitions and scored 24 goals, providing 11 assists as Carlo Ancelotti’s side won three titles last season.
The Brazil International, was on suspension when his country crashed out of the Copa America at the hands of Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
However, Ferdinand thinks Vinicius has the strongest credentials of any player to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
“I don’t think anyone has done anything else to suggest that they should win Ballon d’Or over Vini Jr..” Ferdinand according to Madrid Zone via Sportskeeda.
“He was the most decisive player & huge reason why Real won CL & La Liga. If Jude keeps scoring & England win EUROs, he’s definitely going to be in mix too.”
