Transfer: Chelsea coach, Maresca bans one player from training with squad

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is not training with the rest of the Blues’ first team despite reporting for the start of pre-season.

According to Mail Sport, Kepa is deemed surplus to requirement by new Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea want to offload the 29-year-old Spanaird who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid.

Kepa remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history, after Chelsea paid Athletico Bilbao £71.6million in 2018.

Although the Kepa has one year left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, the club’s new ownership is looking to recuperate as much of that record transfer fee as possible.

Chelsea currently have Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic as starter options for Maresca’s first season in charge, while Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom are still on the club’s books.
