Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Sports Newspapers:
- Spain on Sunday night were crowned Euro 2024 champions after beating England 2-1 in the final in Berlin, Germany. Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal scored the goals for the La Roja as Chelsea’s Cole Palmer also scored for the Three Lions.
- Novak Djokovic conceded he was “inferior” in Sunday’s Wimbledon final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz but vowed to return to SW19 to fight another day. For the second year in succession, Djokovic suffered defeat in a Wimbledon final to 21-year-old Alcaraz, but whereas last year was a five-set epic which could have gone either way, 2024’s finale was rather more one-sided.
- Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones has died aged 40. Jones spent eight seasons in the NFL and played a key role as the Ravens won Super Bowl XLVII in 2013.
- Tadej Pogacar took a huge step towards reclaiming the Tour de France title as he produced another superb ride to secure a second straight stage win. The two-time champion soloed to victory on stage 14 and followed that up by dismissing his competition on a gruelling climb to the stage 15 finish in Plateau de Beille.
- Home favourite Robert MacIntyre took full advantage of an extraordinary stroke of luck to win the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club. MacIntyre, who was denied the title 12 months ago by Rory McIlroy’s stunning finish, produced one of his own after trailing Adam Scott by two shots with three to play in a rollercoaster final round.
