Real Madrid legend, Zinedine Zidane has expressed surprise that midfielder Jude Bellingham opted for the No.5 shirt at Los Blancos.
Zidane wore the No.5 shirt for five years from 2001 to 2006 at Real Madrid.
However, Bellingham left Borussia Dortmund for Real Madrid last summer and opted for the No. 5 shirt.
The England international is on a six-year contract at Santiago Bernabeu.
But Zidane said, according to The Madrid Zone, as quoted by sportskeeda, “Jude taking my shirt? It was a surprise. But it was a good surprise. In the end, what he is doing, the player he is, I think also that the Madridistas didn’t think about a year like this for him.
“In the first year (at a new club), there is always a time of adaptation and he didn’t. He always knew what he was doing. He was perfect.”
The English midfielder scored 23 goals and made 13 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions in his first season at Real Madrid.
