Carabao Cup: Arteta confirms double injury blow ahead of Arsenal, Bolton clash

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said he expects captain Martin Odegaard to be out “for a number of weeks” with the ankle injury.

Odegaard picked up the problem while on international duty early this month.

Arteta, speaking last week, confirmed his captain’s issue was “significant”. But on Tuesday morning, he put a timeframe on his absence.

The Gunners boss also revealed that Oleksandr Zinchenko’s calf injury will keep him out for a sustained spell too.

“I think it will be a matter of weeks. How long exactly, I cannot tell you,” Arteta said of Odegaard.

When asked if there is any chance for the Norway international to return ahead of next month’s international break, Arteta added: “We might get a surprise but I think it’s unlikely.”
