Super Eagles: Sports Minister clears air on ‘advanced talks’ with Peseiro to return as Nigeria’s coach

Honourable Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, on Thursday dismissed reports that he is currently in ‘advanced talks’ with José Peseiro for a potential return as coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Reports had earlier emerged online that Enoh was in advanced talks with the Portuguese to return as Nigeria’s national team manager.

However, reacting to the development, Enoh, in a statement by Diana Mary Nsan, the SA Media to the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, said the news was entirely false and has been fabricated to create sensation.

The statement added that the Minister doesn’t interfere or influence critical decisions of the federations, particularly in this case, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

Enoh, therefore, urged Nigerians who love sports, critical stakeholders, including the media, to continue supporting the Federal Ministry of Sports Development and disregard this false news.

The statement partly read, “We have been made aware of some news circulating in certain media channels. We want to clarify that this news is entirely false and has been fabricated to create sensation.

“He operates with utmost decorum and ensures that the federations meet the required expectations and standards in the discharge of their duties.”
