EPL: It’s sad – Ian Wright reacts to latest news from Chelsea star

Thiago Silva’s announcement about his decision to depart from Chelsea at the end of this season has gained attention from fans and football icons alike.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright responded to the news on social media, appreciating the significant impact that the Brazilian centre-back had in his spell at Stamford Bridge.

After having signed a one-year contract with the club in 2020, Silva extended it by another year and helped the Blues win their second UEFA Champions League.

Through an Instagram post, Silva expressed his love and attachment to Chelsea, thanking the club and its supporters for making his dreams come true.

The 39-year-old also left a hint of his possible return to the club.

Wright, who is known for his admiration for Chelsea’s rivals Arsenal, responded to Silva’s message, conveying his respect and appreciation for the player’s achievements at Stamford Bridge.

Despite his club loyalties, Wright has always been a vocal supporter of football as a whole and recognized Silva’s contribution to the game.

Reacting, Wright said on Premier League Productions:

“Him announcing it, it’s very emotional because he knew it was coming and now he has to put it out there. What was really quite sad to watch was how he couldn’t control the fact that he has accepted it in himself, and you see him in tears.

“It is sad. It’s sad to see because a great career is winding down.”
