New head coach of Super Eagles, Finidi George has signaled his intent to forge his own path, distinct from his former teammates Daniel Amokachi and Emmanuel Amuneke, despite their candidacy for assistant coach positions.
In the wake of his recent appointment, Finidi has yet to finalize his backroom staff, leaving speculation rife over potential appointments.
Both Amokachi and Amuneke have been rumored contenders for the assistant coach role, having also vied for the top coaching position with the national team.
However, reports from SCORENigeria indicate that Finidi is inclined towards selecting his own assistants rather than partnering with the duo.
This decision underscores Finidi’s desire to assemble a coaching team aligned with his vision and methodology.
While the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had previously affirmed its commitment to granting the new head coach autonomy in selecting his assistants, Finidi’s inclination towards independence sets the stage for a fresh chapter in the Super Eagles’ coaching hierarchy.
