Former Manchester City manager, Stuart Pearce has critcised Declan Rice’s decision-making during Arsenal’s Premier League 3-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
Recall that a goal each from Rice, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard gave Mikel Arteta’s side all three points against Bournemouth.
Rice created three big chances during the encounter, completed 43 passes and made seven recoveries.
However, Pearce was far from impressed with one thing the former West Ham United star did in the seventh minute.
Rice did well to win the ball on the halfway line, driving forward, and finding himself in a lot of space.
The 25-year-old had a good opportunity to shoot but instead decided to play a poor pass Saka, which allowed the visitors to regroup in defense.
“This is where I think Declan Rice can go to another level,” Pearce told talkSPORT.
“Winning the ball on the halfway line, he had players left and right, but he was looking for the pass. I think he should be looking for the shot.”
