Real Madrid head coach, Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that the club doesn’t want him to play younger players.
Ancelotti said this while explaining his decision to replaced Arda Guler in Real Madrid’s 3-0 home win against Cadiz on Saturday,
Recall that the Los Blancos clinched their 36th La Liga title on Saturday following Barcelona’s 4-2 defeat to Girona.
Ancelotti was pressed for his reason to take off the 19-year-old Guler, who played well but was replaced by Jude Bellingham.
The Italian gaffer replied by saying that Guler was tired and that he needed fresh legs on the pitch.
“Arda Güler played the role he had to play, because he’s very young. I replaced him because he got tired and I wanted to have fresh legs to win the game.
“That is what they asked of me at Real Madrid when they signed me, not to bring in young players,” Ancelotti said, via Get Football News.
Ancelotti will now lead Real Madrid as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final second leg tie on Wednesday.
