Argentina mourns as World Cup-winning coach, Menotti is dead

Argentina mourns the passing of Cesar Luis Menotti, the revered coach behind Argentina’s historic World Cup victory in 1978.

Affectionately dubbed ‘El Flaco’, Menotti battled severe anemia during his final days, spending a month in hospital before his demise.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) solemnly confirmed his passing, lamenting the loss of their former World Cup-winning maestro and current Director of National Teams.

Menotti’s indelible imprint on Argentine football ensures his legacy will endure through generations to come.

“The Argentine Football Association regrets to inform with great sadness the death of Cesar Luis Menotti, current Director of National Teams and former World Cup winning coach of Argentina,” the AFA posted on its official X account, formerly known as Twitter on Sunday.
