Ballon d’Or: Messi reacts as Rodri wins award ahead of Vinicius

Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, has congratulated every nominee and winners at the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.

Messi was absent at Monday’s ceremony as he was excluded from the 30-man shortlist this year.

However, some of his Argentina team-mates made the cut, with Emiliano Martinez winning the Yachine Award for the second consecutive year.

For the big prize, Manchester City’s Rodri was named the best player on the planet ahead of Real Madrid forward, Vinicius Junior.

Messi wrote on Instagram: “Congratulations to all the winners and nominated ones for the Ballon d’Or 2024.

“Especially to Dibu, what a great, another award for the best goalkeeper in the world. And to Lautaro, to Scaloni and Garnacho.”

Messi remains the player with the most Ballon d’Or awards (8).
