Ballon: Gary Neville names three players that’ll compete for award this year

Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has named three players he expects to compete for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Writing in The Overlap newsletter, Neville named England internationals, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Phil Foden.

The trio were all included in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season released on Monday.

“The UEFA team of the season was released on Monday made up of the best players in the Champions League in 2023-24 and Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Harry Kane were all in it,” Neville said.

“All three of those will be Ballon d’Or contenders at the end of the year. Only France, with Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, have comparable attacking talent to England right now.”
