Champions League: Ancelotti explains why he substituted Jude Bellingham against Bayern Munich

Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has explained why he substituted Jude Bellingham in the Los Blancos’ Champions League semi-final first leg 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Bellingham was replaced by veteran midfielder Luka Modric in the 75th minute of the encounter at the Allianz Arena.

The England international left the pitch with Real Madrid still chasing an equaliser after Leroy Sane and Harry Kane had turned things around for the hosts following Vinicius’ opener.

Explaining his decision why he took off Bellingham, Ancelotti claimed the 20-year-old had been physically struggling since the hour mark.

“Jude Bellingham was not at the best level tonight, but the same for the entire team,” Ancelotti said.

“Bellingham got cramps after 60 minutes, so I had to substitute him.”
