Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez has spoken out against the officiating in LaLiga after VAR disallowed a Lamine Yamal goal in Barcelona’s recent 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday.
Xavi criticized the league’s failure to implement goal-line technology, which would have prevented the controversial decision.
Real Madrid went on to equalize the scores twice after Barcelona had taken the lead, securing a fourth consecutive El Clasico victory over the Catalan side with Jude Bellingham’s 91st-minute winning goal.
Despite performing well, Barca remain 11 points behind Real Madrid with only six games left, making a comeback highly unlikely.
Xavi expressed his frustration at the refereeing decisions but stated that he was proud of the team’s performance in the match.
“We can’t control them. These are refereeing actions.
“I think the team is doing very well, we competed very well, we were better than Real on their own pitch and I think we deserved the three points in every way,” Xavi told reporters after the game.
