EPL: Arteta names player that could’ve changed Arsenal’s title fate

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has revealed that Tottenham’s Son Heung-min would have been his preferred Premier League player to seize the opportunity that could have given the Gunners control of the title race.

As Arsenal brace for a decisive final match against Everton, they remain dependent on West Ham defeating Manchester City to have a chance at ending their two-decade title drought.

Man City’s recent 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur has positioned them two points ahead of Arsenal.

A victory against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium would ensure City retains the Premier League title.

Despite their reliance on West Ham, Arsenal could have been in a stronger position.

During City’s match against Tottenham, Son had a prime opportunity to equalize after intercepting a pass from Manuel Akanji, but his shot was saved by Man City goalkeeper, Stefan Ortega.

Reflecting on the missed chance ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Everton on Sunday, Arteta expressed his faith in Son’s abilities.

“If I had to pick a player in the Premier League for that moment then it would have been him [Son],” Arteta remarked.

He likened the situation to Michael Jordan’s experience with clutch shots, highlighting the unpredictability and beauty of sports.

“The hope was there and it didn’t happen. Now we have to do our job which is going to be tough because Everton are in a good moment,” Arteta concluded.
