Everton defender, Ashley Young has weighed in on the Premier League title race, suggesting that Manchester City could seize control if they secure victory in their upcoming fixture.
As it stands, Arsenal sits atop the table with 83 points, just one ahead of City.
Despite Arsenal having two matches remaining compared to City’s three, Young believes that City’s game in hand gives them a significant advantage.
City could momentarily leapfrog Arsenal into first place if they triumph in their upcoming clash against Fulham, pending Arsenal’s subsequent showdown with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Young emphasized City’s potential to dictate the title race, stating, “I think if City win their game in hand, possibly it is theirs to throw away.”
He also acknowledged that both teams face challenging fixtures in the remaining matches of the season.
Young’s assessment underscores the pivotal nature of City’s forthcoming fixture and highlights the competitive intensity of the title race as it nears its conclusion.
