Former French international and ex-Chelsea defender, William Gallas, has voiced his support for Jose Mourinho’s potential return to Stamford Bridge, amid mounting speculation surrounding Mauricio Pochettino’s future with the club.
Mourinho, who has been without a managerial role since his departure from AS Roma in January, has been the subject of rumors linking him to a third spell at Chelsea.
Reflecting on his time under Mourinho’s leadership, during which he secured two Premier League titles with the Blues, Gallas expressed enthusiasm at the prospect of the Portuguese tactician’s comeback, citing the potential excitement it would bring to the Premier League.
Gallas remarked, “If Mourinho came back, it would be good for the Premier League and it would be exciting. I think everyone would be excited by the prospect of seeing Mourinho pitting his wits against Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta – something would happen. There would be fireworks.”
When pressed on potential destinations for Mourinho, Gallas identified Chelsea as the most suitable option, emphasizing the synergy between the club and the manager. He stated, “That is a good question. I actually think the best club for him would be to come back to Chelsea. That would be the best possible option for Mourinho.”
