Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has urged the club to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Premier League club Newcastle United in January, as a replacement to the injured Rodri, according to the Daily Mail.
Man City have been struggling since Rodri tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The Premier League champions went on a seven-game winless run in all competitions before a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
Guardiola’s side are now looking to bring in a defensive pivot in January and have had their eye on a number of players including Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Atalanta’s Ederson.
However, Guardiola has his eyes set on Newcastle’s Guimaraes and is insisting the Cityzens sign the Brazilian.
Man City had been interested in Guimaraes in the summer, but eventually decided to bring former captain Ilkay Gundogan back from Barcelona in a free transfer.
