Inter Milan legend, Wesley Sneijder has revealed that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag made mistake by competing with Cristiano Ronaldo nearly 18 months ago.
Sneijder also insisted that Ten Hag knows that he will be sacked at the end of the season.
He, however, advised the former Ajax coach to wait comfortably until then.
Recall that Ronald clashed with Ten Hag before his contract with Man United was terminated and he later joined Al-Nassr as a free agent.
However, Sneijder, a former teammates with Ronaldo at Real Madrid, believes Ten Hag’s power battle with the Portuguese ultimately lost him the respect of Man United’s players.
Speaking on Dutch TV show Veronica Offside on Monday night, Sneijder said: “He already made a mistake by competing with Ronaldo.
“He lost everyone’s respect there. He thought it would work the other way around, but of course not.
“Those guys in the dressing room thought, “Is this man crazy?”’
On suggestions Ten Hag might be sacked at the end of the season, Sneijder added: “Of course he already knows that he has to leave.
“But you are not going to go yourself. If I was him, I would sit there comfortably [until he’s sacked].”
