Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino will not be able to call upon Enzo Fernandez as the top midfielder is reportedly out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for a groin injury.
According to the Daily Mail, the Argentina World Cup star will likely make it back in time for his country’s Copa America campaign, which is set to begin in late June this year.
The 23-year-old played 67 minutes in Chelsea’s Premier League 5-0 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday.
With Fernandez set to miss the rest of the season, things have gone from bad to worse for Pochettino and Co.
Fernandez has played 40 games across competitions for Chelsea, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
However, Chelsea are yet to release an official statement on the latest issue regarding Fernandez’s injury.
Meanwhile, Pochettino’s side are already struggling in the Premier League, sitting ninth position in the standings.
They are 19 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, who have played two games more.
