EPL: Man United have given Ten Hag what I didn’t get at Old Trafford – Mourinho

Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has claimed that the Red Devils did not give him the level of support they gave to current head coach Erik ten Hag during his time at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese insisted he could have been better had he been given the trust and support Ten Hag has enjoyed so far at Man United.

According to him, he left Man United sad as a result of lack of enough support and trust.

“My relationship with Ed Woodward [ former chief executive] was good. Good as in the personal point of view,” Mourinho told UK Telegraph.

“Even now we send an SMS. I am a football man. Ed comes from a different background and what Ten Hag has in his time at Manchester United I didn’t have.

“I didn’t have that level of support. I didn’t have that level of trust. So I left sad, because I felt I was in the beginning of the process. In some moments, I felt if they trusted me and believed in my experience things could be different.”

Mourinho was at Man United from 2016 to 2018.

The former AS Roma coach won a Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Mourinho was sacked in December 2018.
