EPL: ‘Not my decision’ – Arteta reveals who made Arsenal signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed that the decision to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea was not entirely his own.

Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League tie with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, Arteta disclosed that the decision was taken in conjunction with the sporting director, Edu, and other senior officials at the club.

Although the Germany international initially struggled to adapt to life at Arsenal, he has since scored 11 goals and provided five assists since his summer move from Chelsea.

Commenting on the decision to sign Havertz, Arteta remarked that “a lot of people were involved,” and that the club’s ownership played a crucial role in making the transfer happen.

Despite significant competition for places in midfield and Havertz’s initial adjustment struggles, Arteta praised his resilience and adaptability, and the player’s impressive goalscoring and assist records speak for themselves.

It remains to be seen how Arsenal and Havertz will perform in future seasons, but the decision to sign him certainly seems to be paying dividends.

“It’s not my decision, it is your decision,” Arteta on the decision to sign Havertz, said.

“A lot of people were involved and then you need the ownership to back you as well and make things happen.”
