EPL: They spent £1.2b, not underdog – Carragher on Chelsea’s title race

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has insisted that Chelsea are not underdog in the title race this season.

According to the former England international, the Blues’ impressive campaign “is no underdog story.”

He said this after watching the west London side’s 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Blues spent heavily over the last few transfer windows and finally seem to be reaping the fruits of their investments.

Carragher said on Sky Sports, “This is no underdog story, they’ve spent £1.2 billion.”

The win over Tottenham took the west Londoners to second place in the league table.

Enzo Maresca’s side are on 31 points, 4 points behind league leaders Liverpool and two more than Arsenal in third place.

Chelsea’s next game is in the UEFA Conference League where they will face FC Astana on Thursday.
