EPL: Van Basten tells Man Utd best manager to coach team next season

AC Milan legend, Marco van Basten has told Manchester United to continue with Erik ten Hag as their manager next season amid reports that the Old Trafford club could sack the Dutchman this summer.

Van Basten believes Ten Hag is the best manager to take Man United to ‘a higher level’ next season.

Ten Hag’s time at United looked to be up following a dreadful Premier League campaign despite winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City a few days ago.

The likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Frank have been linked to replace Ten Hag at United.

However, Van Basten believes United would be making a mistake in replacing the former Ajax coach ahead of next season.

“It was not a good match, but it is great that he managed to win against City with such a limited team,” Van Basten told Rondo.

“Despite few opportunities with the players, he was still able to win the FA Cup, which was very important. As a result, they play European football. I think he is still the former man to get something done with Manchester United to box. I think they should give him time.”

“I do think he is capable of taking Manchester to a higher level,” he added.
