Euro 2024: Ashley Cole tells Southgate to rest England top player

Former Chelsea defender, Ashley Cole has urged England manager Gareth Southgate to rest Bukayo Saka and play Phil Foden on the right wing in his squad at the Euro 2024.

Cole stated this ahead of England’s Euro 2024 final group-stage clash against Slovenia on Tuesday.

England won 1-0 against Serbia in their first game at the Euro 2024.

The Three Lions then played 1-1 against Denmark in their second group game.

When asked about the changes he would make in the England lineup for their remaining games, Cole said (via beIN SPORTS):

“I would like to see Anthony Gordon play from the left, I would like to see Foden playing on the right because I feel he’s been unfairly dug out. You can still see it as a rest for Saka.

” I would like Foden to show the world how good he is because we know.”

“In terms of midfield or other changes I’d like to see Kobbie or Cole Palmer play in midfield, be more front-footed, dominate the ball a bit more they would be my changes,” he added.
