Former England internationals,
Wayne Rooney and Joe Cole have revealed two players that should have been included in manager Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 this month.
The two players are Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
Southgate recently announced his squad for the Euro 2026 with several top players missing including Grealish, Branthwaite, Harry Maguire and James Maddison.
The Euro 2024 tournament kicks off next week in Germany.
“Maguire has been a stalwart, he’s had an injury. That’s what Gareth’s had to wrestle with,” Cole said on Channel 4.
“Grealish coming out of the squad surprised me. He’s been such a focal point for so many years. Gareth thinks other players in his position are performing better.”
Also speaking, Rooney said: “The fans have been crying out for Gareth to make these exciting decisions,’ he insisted.
“I would have liked to seen Branthwaite in the squad. He’s had an excellent season at Everton.”
