Spain’s head coach, Luis de la Fuente, has suggested that his team is among the four top contenders for Euro 2024, alongside France, Germany and England.
As the 2023-24 season concludes with the Champions League final next weekend, the focus shifts to the European Championship starting on June 14 in Germany.
Early favorites for the title include World Cup runners-up France, hosts Germany, Gareth Southgate’s England, and Portugal, the 2016 champions.
Despite being drawn into a challenging group with reigning champions Italy, Croatia, and Albania, De la Fuente is confident that Spain can compete with the tournament’s top teams.
Speaking with Movistar Plus, the Spain boss said: “Spain would be first place in terms of my favourite, number one.
“We are not inferior to anyone, we are there in contention.
“Obviously who doesn’t rate England, Portugal and France? But they are different [from us].
“Maybe we don’t have as many individual stars – though we still have very good players – but we are stronger as a team.”
