Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has given his opinion on why England were able to beat Serbia 1-0 in their first game at the Euro 2024 on Sunday.
The Three Lions kicked off their campaign with a narrow victory against Serbia, with Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham scoring the only goal of the game in the 13th minute.
Ten Hag insisted that despite the goal, Gareth Southgate’s side were not at their best, adding that were only ‘passive’ in their approach to the game.
The Dutchman noted that Serbia gave England all kinds of problems.
“England were playing very passive. I actually saw them moving backwards, they kept Serbia coming at them,” Ten Hag said as quoted by AFC Ajax.
England find themselves at the top of Group C following their win against Serbia.
Denmark and Slovenia played out a 1-1 draw in the other game of the group.
