Euro 2024 will be my last – Cristiano Ronaldo after losing penalty for Portugal against Slovenia

Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Monday admitted that Euro 2024 will be his last for his country.

The 39-year-old stated this after Portugal knocked out Slovenia via penalties shootout in their Round of 16 clash on Monday night.

The Al-Nassr forward had the chance to open the scoring in extra time, but saw his penalty saved by goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

However, the former Manchester United star converted during the shoot-out.

His teammate, goalkeeper Diogo Costa, made three successive saves to send Portugal through to the last-8.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Ronaldo said: “This will be my last Euro, of course.

“But I’m not moved by this. I’m moved by enthusiasm.

“I was sorry for the fans. I will always give my best for this shirt, whether I miss it or not. And I will do this my whole life. You have to take responsibility.”
