Graeme Souness, a former Liverpool captain, has slammed Manchester United’s Antony for taunting Coventry City after their recent FA Cup victory.
He also expressed concern for Alejandro Garnacho’s behavior, who sported two earrings in the build-up to the game.
Antony has been widely criticized for his gestures, with Souness describing it as “naff” and that such behavior is not expected from a Manchester United player.
The former Liverpool man also commented that young talent like Garnacho needs guidance and shouldn’t opt for inappropriate behavior.
Ironically, Souness himself was known for his on-field aggression and antics during his playing days.
Asked about Antony’s reaction to the win, Souness said on talkSPORT: “It was naff.
“Manchester United are a class act. But for a player to act like that it’s naff, it’s like you just don’t do that as a Man United player.
“It wasn’t Real Madrid you’ve just knocked out. It was Coventry, a team from the Championship.”
He added, “Garnacho for me is an exceptionally talented young man but I worry for him,” Souness added.
“It’s just an observation, called me old-fashioned, call me a dinosaur, but he’s got two ear-rings in the warm-up, on the pitch.”
